While the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) prepares to update SPD 15 data standards for the first time since 1997, stakeholders are working on behalf of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and LGBTQIA+ constituencies to support accountability led by OMB to diversify current data collection and reporting standards effectively.

Improve Data Collection Requirements:

Establishing clear and consistent requirements for the collection of racial, ethnic and language (REL) and sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data, including a minimum standard for disaggregated race/ethnicity collection that is consistent with industry interoperability standards.

Advocate for OMB to incorporate the current data standards put forth by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) and Office of Minority Health (OMH) into Directive No. 15 and require minimum standard categories for collecting disaggregated racial, ethnic and language (REL) data.
